Databases Highlights: Online Reference resources

Below is a list of the subscription reference databases that include general to subject-specific encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, and more. Search or browse these databases. It is interesting to compare entries on the same term/concept among the various reference titles.
  • Credo Reference (over 400 titles)
    The resources contains dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, thesauri, quotations, atlases, and general and subject specific encyclopedias on topics such as art, business, geography, history, language, law, literature, music, philosophy, psychology, religion, and technology.

  • Oxford Reference Online (over 200 titles)
    Resource for facts, figures, definitions, and translations. Find more than 50,000 scholarly articles from titles in the Oxford Companions series, plus all 20,000 quotations from the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library (over 100 titles)
    A core collection of virtual reference books available in the library and at home 24/7. Subject areas are: business, education, history/terrorism, medicine, law and government, and science.
